To the attention of our students:
Our department's English section has been accredited by MÜDEK until September 30, 2028. We are rapidly working to extend this accreditation until September 30, 2031, and to obtain further accreditation thereafter. We have also begun efforts to obtain accreditation for our Turkish program from MÜDEK, and all our practices are carried out with this accreditation in mind. Every practice and warning applied to the English section also applies to our Turkish section.
MÜDEK is a member of the Washington Accord, an organization comprising accreditation bodies from leading countries worldwide, and has the authority to accredit engineering departments in Turkiye. Engineering undergraduate programs accredited by a Washington Accord member organization are mutually recognized by all other organizations and are valid in their respective countries. This recognition necessitates the establishment of a common standard for high-quality, professional engineering education among participating organizations.
To ensure this common standard, our students need to possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and awareness upon graduation. To provide these, we implement a specific curriculum and measure the knowledge, skills, and awareness you acquire within this framework. MÜDEK evaluators assess our department based on these measurements and accredit it accordingly. Therefore, students taking courses from other departments or universities without the approval of the department head, outside of the curriculum, will negatively impact our measurements and our ability to achieve our targeted program outcomes. As a department, we cannot allow this. For this reason, courses taken outside the departmental curriculum without departmental approval, including electives, will not be counted and will not be recorded on your transcripts. It is crucial that students pay attention to these points to avoid future problems.
